Help, I’m Pregnant and Don’t Want the Baby

1, 2, or 3 Weeks Pregnant and Don’t Want the Baby

At 1 or 2 weeks pregnant, you are actually not even pregnant yet. We know that sounds confusing but it’s because healthcare providers use your last menstrual period to determine your due date, so technically the first day of your period is also the first day of your pregnancy. Since you ovulate about two weeks into your cycle, conception happens around the time you’re two weeks pregnant.

You likely still won’t know you’re pregnant going in to week 3. If you do get a positive pregnancy test and you already know you don’t want the baby, you have two options: terminate the pregnancy or carry on with pregnancy and parent or place the baby for adoption.

If you know you want to choose adoption for your baby, you can contact our adoption agency Adoption Choices of Texas for information. You will begin creating an adoption plan but won’t choose an adoptive family until later in your pregnancy.

4, 5, or 6 Weeks Pregnant and Don’t Want the Baby

It is more likely to discover you are pregnant between week 4 and 6 of pregnancy. Your options remain the same, terminate the pregnancy or carry on with pregnancy and parent or place the baby for adoption. In Texas, the Heartbeat Law prohibits abortion after the detection of embryonic or fetal cardiac activity (a heartbeat), which normally occurs after about six weeks of pregnancy so you may be limited to parenting or choosing adoption.

Once again, contacting our adoption agency Adoption Choices of Texas is an opportunity for you to discuss your options and understand what choosing an adoption and placing your baby with an adoptive family might look like.

7, 8, 9, 10, or 11 Weeks Pregnant and Don’t Want the Baby

By 7-11 weeks pregnant, you are likely aware you are pregnant. You have either tested positive or are starting to experience symptoms. While some women are excited and start picking names, others feel doomed and are panicking. Don’t worry, what you are feeling is totally normal! If you know you do not want to parent this child, adoption is an option and Adoption Choices of Texas is here with you!

12 Weeks Pregnant/3 Months Pregnant and Don’t Want the Baby

Choosing adoption at any point during your pregnancy is an option. Some women know right away they do not want to parent and others are torn between parenting and choosing adoption until birth. At 3 months pregnant, you can contact our Texas adoption agency Adoption Choices of Texas and we can discuss options.

4, 5, or 6 Months Pregnant and Don’t Want the Baby

Choosing adoption at 4, 5 or 6 months pregnant is an option. At this point terminating the pregnancy is not an option anywhere in the U.S. Your pregnancy options include parenting and adoption. For any reason under the sun, parenting is not an option for you, but adoption is. Adoption Choices of Texas can help you through the adoption process.

7, 8, 0r 9 Months Pregnant

If you are later in your pregnancy or nearing your delivery date, and you are considering placing your child for adoption, our Texas adoption center is available to help. Adoption Choices of Texas can help you through the final weeks, days, or even if you are giving birth in the hospital. In fact, if you gave birth, took the baby home and now you’re realizing you want to place your newborn for adoption, we can still help.
