D and K, a Caucasian couple from Wisconsin, were already adoptive parents when they felt the call to expand their family and give their son a sibling. What followed was four months of connection and trust-building. From the beginning, the birth and adoptive families shared common values and a mutual desire for openness. Their bond became so strong that they even chose the baby’s name together during a dinner meeting in the birth family’s hometown.
