Tony and Denise’s Adoption from Incarceration

Tony and Denise (pseudonyms) were chosen by a birth mother who was incarcerated. While they had limited contact with her before placement, the jail staff—including the chief, lieutenant, and facility administrators—played a key role in making the plan successful.
After placement in May, the agency coordinated a video call so the adoptive parents could thank the birth mother and reassure her that they would honor the open adoption when she’s ready. They appreciated the built-in support for birth mothers, such as counseling and doula care.
The couple expressed deep gratitude for Adoption Choices, saying, “Adoption is very scary at times with all of the unknowns, but Adoption Choices held our hands and supported us throughout the process.”
