Teen Pregnancy Options in Texas

Teen Pregnancy Options in Dallas

An unplanned pregnancy may be one of the most frightening things to happen, and considering that you are a teenager, you don’t even want to imagine the stress you are experiencing.

The questions of “Who do I turn to for Putting a Baby up for Adoption in Dallas?” and “where can I find support?” will immediately form in your head.

Thankfully, with modern technology, you don’t have to worry about where to look up Adoption Information. There are resources available for you at the grasp of your hand and you will find the help you need with our adoption center.

Remember, just because you are going through pregnancy as a teen does not mean you do not have a voice. This is your life and your baby: everything about adoption is your choice, at your will.

Here at Adoption Texas, we’re not here to judge — we are here to support you wholeheartedly. We will ensure that your baby finds the right family who will show unconditional love. We focus on birth mothers who feel abandoned and feel like they cannot turn to anyone else in their lives during an unplanned pregnancy.

We will walk you through the steps needed to complete the adoption process, the resources available for you during and after the adoption, and what the process looks like post-adoption.

Contact an Adoption Agency

There are two types of adoption agencies: Private Adoption Agencies and Public Adoption Agencies.

A Public Adoption Agency is a state-funded system administered by the Department of Social Services, in other words: foster care. The aim is to restore the relationship between the birthparent and the child. However, if the child is introduced to foster care – the state or the Department of Social Services can terminate the biological parents of their parental rights over the child.

A Private Adoption Agency works directly with the birth mother, creating an intimate relationship and effective communication with the birth mother. While expensive, this will ensure the child’s safety and reassurance for the birth mother.

It’s hard finding an agency that will fit your needs and share the same goals as you. That’s why at Adoption Choices of Texas, we will support you by providing a skilled, compassionate social worker. And whether it be the adoption in Dallas, an Austin Adoption, or elsewhere in the state, your social worker understands The Adoption Process in Texas.

Start an Adoption Plan

Once you’ve decided to adopt, your next step will be to sit down with your adoption counselor or social worker. Together you will plan for your pregnancy, which includes finding a quality doctor and ensuring you receive prenatal care. Adoption Choices of Texas will also help you get in touch with the birth father (if possible), discuss the Texas Adoption laws, and schedule ongoing counseling sessions with you.

Choose the Type of Adoption

You can decide the directness of your adoption and determine how much communication you want between you and your child’s family. There are three types of adoptions that you can choose from: open, semi-open, or closed adoption. The level of communication is based on your comfort level.

  1. Open Adoption– This allows you to communicate openly with the adoptive family. Whether it be through email or phone, there is no limitation to the updates of your child. And the best part is you can request photos and letters too.
  2. Semi-Open Adoption– This is almost the same concept as open adoption; the adoption agency will act as the medium between you and the adopting family and become the source of communication.
  3. Closed Adoption– A closed adoption might be a good option if you prefer more privacy. We will take care of the rest as your agency.

Select the Adoptive Family

Adoption Choices of Texas will guide you in selecting the right adopting family. You are invited to select from families you feel will be a good fit for your child. You can choose a two-parent household, or if siblings would be great for your child to experience, then you can choose that too. Once you have decided, we will send you a list of family portfolios.

Once you choose the family, there will be an opportunity to chat with them by phone, email, or in person, allowing you to get to know them better.

Preparing for Child Birth

Before you go into labor, make sure that you notify your adoption professional, and she will inform the adopting parents too. This ensures that everything goes smoothly at the hospital.

After delivery, you can choose how much time to have with your baby. During this, mothers can feed, hold, and name the baby (if it’s okay with the adopting parents too). One thing that you should be aware of is that after delivery, this is the stage where legal documents are signed, but you can take as much time with this; your adoption professional is there to guide you through the legal process. In all states, no legal documents need signing after the child is born.

Post-Adoption Plan

You may have already delivered and completed most of the adoption process, but your emotional journey is not. Your adoption professional will continue to reach out to provide you with resources such as additional counseling and birth mother support groups. We recommend that after you’ve given birth, you need to take time for yourself to rest and consider pursuing birth mother support groups.

A post-adoption plan is a great idea for birth mothers, and you should never forget to take care of yourself. One of the most important things is your mental health, and thankfully, birth mother support groups will encourage you to be vulnerable with your emotions and thoughts.
